About Mandy Jeffries

Mandy lives in Denver, CO with her husband, Tom and their two kids, Trace (5) and Taylin (2), along with their dog and three cats. She love animals and the sunshine, and hopes to call herself a full-fledged urban gardener someday.  She became passionate about pregnancy, birth and natural parenting as she prepared for the birth of her son.

Mandy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver.  Before her son’s birth opened her eyes to the beautiful world of pregnancy and birth, she worked in an after-school setting with kids in four public housing neighborhoods in Denver and loved every minute of it. She is now blessed to work from home and thrilled to be able to watch her children grow and change on a daily basis!

My Philosophy

“Birth is not only about making babies; birth is about making mothers – strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.” -Barbara Katz Rothman

Birth is a normal, natural and powerful event in the lives of a mother, her partner and her child. Our bodies and our babies are miraculously smart and most times, when left alone, they will work together in harmony to create a peaceful beginning for new life. Pregnancy and birth are a time when countless decisions are made. A mother deserves compassionate support and solid information, so that she will feel empowered to make the choices that she feels are best for herself and her baby, and feel satisfied with her birth experience when all is said and done.

When a mother is able to confidently make informed decisions about her body and her birth, she will most often choose and be able to give birth naturally. But, when necessary, medical interventions are a blessing and should be regarded with the utmost respect. Sometimes medical assistance is something that must take place in order keep mother and baby out of harm’s way, and we are so lucky to live in a time where these life-saving interventions are available.

Complete childbirth education and as much support as possible during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period are very important in having the birth experience you desire. With information and support, mothers (and their partners) can make the choices that will best fit their needs and desires and also have the best outcomes for themselves and their babies.
